“Thank you. I won’t forget you forever.” KT’s 20th anniversary special day
KT, which celebrated its 20th anniversary, had a time to repay the love it had received.
Suwon KT played its fourth round match against Changwon LG, the professional basketball team in the 2023-2024 general managerial office, at the Sonic Boom Arena in Suwon on Friday. The result was a disappointing 68-71 loss, but it was true that it was a meaningful day. The stadium was sold out with 3,576 spectators, the largest number since KT moved to Suwon. The previous record was 3,563 (December 30, 2023).
It was a meaningful day for KT in many ways. The KT basketball team was founded as KTF Magic Wings in January 2004, and the team was renamed the KT Sonic Boom from the 2009-2010 season when KTF was merged with its parent company, KT. In January 2024, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, we produced special uniforms and prepared various events.
The first step was to express ‘thank you.’ A video of a woman was shown on a billboard before the competition. The main character is Yang Soo-kyung, a chef at a KT restaurant. She has since worked for KTF Magic Wings and has been responsible for the nutrition and health of the players and staff.
In the video, Yang said, “Now I ate the same food that Song Young-jin used to eat when he was a player. I also worked out hard then. I prepare the food every day with the same care that I take for my son. I feel the most rewarded when I win the competition after eating what I cooked. I will continue to treat the players with good and delicious food with all my heart.”
KT thanked Yang for her contribution by giving her a plaque of appreciation and a bouquet of flowers. In addition, a special event was held to celebrate the 20th anniversary. Players wore orange and mint uniforms, which represent the past and the present, and fans looked back on their past memories by answering quizzes related to the 20th anniversary.
