Overcoming controversy over sign stealing…Cora signs Boston for a three-year extension
The Boston Red Sox of the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) signed a three-year contract extension with manager Alex Cora. ESPN reported on the 25th (Korea time) that “Coach Cora signed a three-year total of $21.75 million (about 30.2 billion won) with Boston.”
Cora is a leader who is clear-eyed and dark. He was named Boston manager in 2018, and that year, he became a famous coach, leading his team to the World Series. However, he gave up the baton ahead of the 2020 season due to suspicions of signature-stealing.
Cora was accused of actively participating in sign stealing as a bench coach for the Houston Astros in 2017, and was fired by Boston after it was revealed later. He was also suspended for one year by the MLB office for the incident. After completing his self-reflection period, Cora returned to Boston as manager in October 2020.
As of Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox are ranking third in the American League East with 54 wins and 47 losses and 0.535 wins. The news of Cora’s contract extension is expected to be an important stepping stone to the team’s long-term stability and growth.
Fans are looking forward to seeing if Boston can win the World Series again under Cora’s leadership. With this contract extension, the Boston Red Sox are ready to take on new challenges with Cora.
