Ha Yoon-ki, was unable to play against Indonesia due to a minor ankle injury.

Korea and Indonesia face off in the first round of the men’s basketball Group D preliminary round of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games held at Zhejiang University’s Jinggang Gymnasium on the 26th. Korea played a consistently dominant game against Indonesia, winning by 40 points (95-55).

Heo Hoon (20 points, 5 3-pointers, 7 assists) and Kim Jong-gyu (19 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists) showed outstanding performances. Because Indonesia was so weak, 11 of the 12 entrants took the court evenly. The one who played the most playing time was Lee Jeong-hyun, playing 23 minutes and 20 seconds.

Among the 12 players, Ha Yoon-gi was the only one who could not compete. The reason is a minor ankle injury. According to jump ball coverage, Ha Yoon-ki sprained his ankle in a practice game against Ulsan Hyundai Mobis held right before the tournament, and did not play that day to rest.

Ha Yoon-ki is a key resource for the national team. He showed remarkable growth last season, winning the Skill Development Award, and solidly established himself as the starting center by playing a big role in two friendly matches against Japan held in Korea in July. It was expected that he would reliably protect Korea’s goal with his height and athletic ability.

However, he had to sit out the first game due to an unexpected ankle injury. Korea achieved its first win with veteran center Kim Jong-gyu perfectly filling Ha Yoon-ki’s vacancy. As Ha Yoon-gi’s ankle injury is minor, he is expected to return in the game against Qatar on the 28th or Japan on the 30th.
